Dean Gale has stood on top of the podium in the first outing of the new MWCC 2012 Kit at the SUVelo race series. Dean Gale with the help of his teammates from the club got the well earned victory that he came so close to winning last month. Lining up in B Grade with 6 other MWCC riders, the tactics were ready to be played out as the horoscope had predicted earlier in the week.
Dave Watkinson may not yet have grand children, but when he does they will hear this story many times. Fresh from his stint in Japan where he must have been honing his skills as a samurai – Dave Watkinson turned up to Round 4 of the Cycle Nation Series at Heffron Park and promptly beat Chris Sutton – Tour of Spain Stage Winner and Team Sky sprinter in the final straight. Only Graeme Brown of Team Rabobank and some mug from Uni of NSW was able to out kick Dave ‘Neo Pro’ Watkinson.
Yet another weekend passes with MANLY putting in some solid performances. Saturday morning saw the boys head out for “The Hardest Hundred – Round 2”. Apparently this time it’s personal. Your humble correspondent noticed the wet roads and immediately resumed a deep sleep – (not sure what happened to the rest of the team – anyone wanna fill this part in?)
On Saturday afternoon, Ross Chaffer was flying the MANLY flag on his lonesome in A grade down at Heffron Park. With talk of previous successes out there (mostly from Rosco), we were all on tenterhooks waiting for the result. However, it seems that Rosco’s racing rustiness may have impeded an ideal result – apparently cornering at 50km/h proved to be the main challenge – or was it keeping up on the way out of those corners?
