July was a cold and soul toughening experience for the riders who signed on and raced West Head. The toughest people on course though, were the MWCC volunteers who manned the turn around points, the sign in desk and the finish line turning themselves into human popsicles. Those MWCC volunteers are hoping for warmer weather at our next race – August 9. Who will be on the podium?

The biggest race of the calendar – Akuna – West Head will now be up against Le Tour De France this month. So if you want to dance on the pedals, suffer like you have never suffered before or consider yourself one of the Heads of State – then make sure you get your entry in for our road race on the 13 July. The Akuna West Head Roubaix was held in cold and wet conditions to ensure that only the toughest started and finished the race. In parts the rain felt like rocks hitting your body, cycling shoes became heavy, cycling clothes went from white to black and the temperature dropped as riders attacked the peloton just to get warm.
