We have a few regular race formats:
The West Head Road course.
Starting at Elvina Walking Track, West Head Road. Registration from 7.00am Racing will commence at 7.20am for A grade with other grades leaving at 5 minute intervals.
The course will start at the Elvina Walking Track Carpark, turning left out of there. Riders do a u-turn at the crest of the climb prior to the exit of West Head Road, then along to the West Head far turn around (amenities block at the Basin walking track) , riders turn around again at the crest of the hill at the intersection of West Head Road and Liberator General San Martin Drive with the finish at Elvina Walking Track Carpark on West Head Rd. The number of laps varies by grade. A grade 3 laps, B/C grade 2 laps and D grade 1 lap.
This is the only monthly road race in Metropolitan Sydney. It offers a challenging course that will test all riders on some great riding surfaces.
Racing is held on the second Sunday of the month and entry is via an online system that opens the week before.
The club holds cyclocross racing along with off road criterium racing for mountain bikes at JJ Melbourne Hills Memorial Reserve at Terrey Hills. Located next to the equestrian centre, this race series provides for some fast and furious off road action.
Generally the off road mountain bike crits are held first and then the cyclocross is divided into two separate races – one race for those who don’t have specific cyclo cross bikes but still want to challenge themselves on the course, whether this be on a mountain bike, a fixie or unicycle. We then have a separate category for those with specific cyclocross bikes. Riders negotiate a mixture of tarmac, grass, mud and items which require you to carry your bike such as barriers and stairs. A great form of racing.
MWCC has hosted the last two NSW rounds of the National Series for Cyclo cross and we also hosted the inaugural NSW State Championships down at Manly Lagoon in 2013. Our cyclocross season operates over winter.
HART Driver Training Centre, Criterium
Held over Summer, this is an enclosed circuit that is completely free of traffic. It has a few technical corners and a nice little rise. This course normally operates during daylight saving months on a Friday night. Most grades are catered for and sign on is usually from 6pm. Look out on our website for more details during the November- March months.
