Calling on female riders and racers – this is your opportunity to win some big prizes and be part of an all female race series. The 6 event program has been compiled by Donna Meehan on behalf of CNSW Women’s Commission. MWCC is proud to be part of this series and we look forward to hosting the riders in round two.

With more and more women entering the racing scene, joining bunch rides on a morning and being part of cycling, it is a great opportunity to have the return of the Womens Series which has grown in size this year to include a time trial and more races including a race in Bathurst.

Each race will endeavour to have 2 grades – an A/B grade and a C/D grade. Last year saw great even racing in all grades at each of the events and the buzz of racing against all female riders was a real bonus for so many riders who had a chance to get away from some of the ‘smelly old men’ as they were rather accurately described.

There will be a prize pool of well over $1000 which will be awarded to the riders at the end of the series. Riders will also have series jerseys that will highlight the series leader – similar to the big European races.

The first round is being hosted this Sunday 30 March at Waratah Park. We would encourage all riders to enter these races.

With the MWCC round we will have day licences available for any female rider who would like to try a road race but may not have a gold racing licence. While you may not be able to participate in each of the rounds, this will be an opportunity to start feeding the addiction.

Our round will have the A/B Grade racing two laps of West Head and our C/D grade racing a single lap of West Head. Given the number of ladies who have been racing in recent months, we expect large fields for both grades at this event. The C/D one lap option has been very popular with first time racers and those who do not have a lot of experience, so please don’t be afraid.
