The CX organisers have set themselves the tough task of attempting to top their epic first round of cyclocross. Bringing a real European feel to the round which featured pouring rain, mud, clay and plenty of new additions, what will round two produce? The next round will be held May 15 and there is no better time to come and spectate or get involved.
Not only do we have awesome prizes to give away thanks to Cell Bikes, Kask helmets, Sponser Hydration and 4 Pines beers but we also have a different track every round. So riders will never know what to expect for the bargain basement entry price of $15. Our cyclocross isn’t just for the elite riders like round one winner Australian Cyclocross rider of the year Gary Milburn. We provide free junior cyclocross races which are extremely popular with the children. We have three divisions which are completed on a modified course, which allows parents full view of the action and for the real littlies room to run along next to them. We run a balance bike division, U/7 event and a U/12 event. Riders in these events can ride on any bike that has two wheels. We have children on balance bikes from about 3 years old, bounding around the course. Young kids with their streamers and baskets attached right up to children on BMX bikes and small mountain bikes. These events are all about participation and so as long as they have a bike and a helmet, then there is nothing stopping them giving it a go.
We often find that the young riders are the only ones on the day who complete the course with a small on their faces. Although there were plenty of grins when riders came through the finish, post race the popular expression was “that was so much fun” .
For the adults, we run two separate divisions, depending on your ability/age and bike. If you do not have a cyclocross bike but want to give the course a go on your mountain bike, hybrid commuter, unicycle then you are able to enter our Open Division.
If you have a cyclocross bike, you can either enter our A Grade/Masters division or our B Grade/Womens.
Either option is bound to set your heart race, the lactic burning in your legs and a true test of your bike handling skills.
Be ready to not only ride the course but also to run sections, carry your bike and jump over numerous obstacles. As a rider described it after round one –
“I had forgotten how much fun, riding a bike could be”
Every round all riders will have the potential to win $50 gift vouchers from cellbikes.com.au and a Kask helmet will also be on offer. All racers and spectators can enter to win a Cell Brunswick 1.0 ‘cross bike, drawn at Round #4 (Sat 16/07) and podium winners also enjoy the sweet nectar of 4 Pines Brewery beers.
Entries will be open on the day.

Escape the tarmac with the adaptability of a cyclocross race bike that is equally capable of being accessorised into the ultimate all-weather commuter or touring bike.
Now in its second generation, it’s fair to ask how we could improve on a bike that claimed BikeRadar’s Editor’s Choice award! Updated tube shapes, optimised geometry, wider tyre clearance, improved chain line & heel clearance along with a wider spread of gearing, takes the Brunswick 1.0 to the next level of commuter, crosser or gravel/adventure bikes.
