Thanks to all the riders who came out and participated in the Energize Gym Hill Climb this morning. Weather was certainly pretty much perfect for a hill climb and we thank our sponsor Weatherzone for providing that today.
Riders faced an undulating ride, with it being relatively flat and fast at the start and this has resulted in some of the pure climbers being dislodged by some of the roulers who are more suited to the rolling terrain.
All up we had 68 riders take up the challenge today and the winning time was 15:18 by Oliver Dharma-Ratne, Oliver was actually the first rider off and he was never seriously challenged until the last rider of the day – Col Carrigan took off and he clocked a time of 15:40. Col Carrigan will therefore take the title and jersey for the 40+ age group as KOM of the Manly Club. Oliver is listed on the sign on, as a MWCC rider but i don’t have his name in my CA club members list, so if he could contact me via this website that would be appreciated – he may or may not have polka dot jersey coming his way.
Unfortunately due to a few computer gremlins, mainly caused by having to hard wire in some results due to various circumstances such as riders leaving at different times or changing numbers, it wasn’t till i have gotten home that i have had a chance to sort and double check all times. Therefore unfortunately both of those riders missed getting up on the podium. Of course what sort of cycling competition would it be unless those that were declared winners on the day were actually stripped of their titles later on – just bringing a UCI feel to our races.
Thanks to both the D’Albora Marina and also Cavallinos for hosting riders before and after the race, it certainly was nice sitting around in the restaurant knocking back a few croissants. Both of these places are well worth a stop when out on a ride.
I only have a query about two riders from my scan – Shaun Falzarano’s time looks a little slower than expected, although he was just letting himself get smashed by his sister, Ella. Also Frank Vozzo’s time is not reflective of his standard – so happy to be corrected on those accounts. Please check the results, there may have been adjustemets to what i told you at the time. Full results are posted below:
|Oliver Dharma -Ratne||manly||0:15:18||30.98|
|Elliot Katz||St Kilda CC||0:17:15||27.48|
|Martinette Van Vuuren||manly||0:21:53||21.66|
Of course there may be the odd spelling mistake, unfortunately i am not a school teacher and so don’t have the ability to read all manners of scribble.
