Tell your kids to put down the playstation control, stop kicking the soccer ball and put on their helmet and come for a pedal! MWCC is hosting a training day for all kids that will give them various skills on the bike that may lead to their own yellow jersey in future years.
This free childrens training day is open to all kids, all they need is a bicycle that works and a helmet and we will do the rest. Worried that your child isn’t very competent on their bicycle yet? That isn’t a reason not to attend – rather a further incentive to attend. The day will cater for children who are on their first balance bike all the way up to children who are little BMX bandits.
The groups will be split up according to ability and will have a mixture of grass riding along with tarmac for the more skilled riders. By the end of it we hope that the children will be weaving around cones, feel more comfortable going around corners and having the confidence in their bikes and their ability when braking as well as going down hill. We may even introduce some cyclo cross skills into the day to get them ready for the upcoming season.
The session will go from 12pm until 1:30pm and while this won’t teach all the required skills for bike riding, we hope that this goes a little way in improving their skills and some may even want to start doing some juniors racing at the end of it.
At the end of the session we will also put on a bbq and drinks for the kids, so that they can refuel and learn the art of the coffee shop banter at the end of a ride.
