In conjunction with Manly Warringah MTB & Manly Council Bike Life Festival we are hosting the Inaugural NSW Cyclocross Championships on September 22nd at Manly Lagoon. This is your chance to race in front of hundreds of spectators. Details about entry are contained within this post.
This event is going to be huge – how often do you have the opportunity to race at Manly? Thanks to a number of hard working club members and Manly Council, we have the once in a lifetime opportunity to have a race right along Manly Lagoon that is open to you – the people.
Due to this being the inaugural year for the CX State Championships, all types of bikes will be allowed to race within the various divisions. So you can enter on your cx bike, roadie or mountain bike. There is nothing holding you back from pinning on a number and racing in Manly as part of this extravaganza! Given the relative flat nature of Manly Lagoon, one can actually see non CX bikes actually having some advantages on various parts of the course.

For MWMTB & MWCC Members we will be discounting entry a further $10 (to be refunded at sign on)
Kids (Under 13 & Under 7) entry will be on the day only and will be free. So get them off the couch, unplug the computer and take away their mobile phones – this is a chance for them to get outside and get active and take part in either the U/7 or U/13 race. Think your child isn’t up for it? We have had toddlers complete our races on balance bikes – they are never to young to give it a go.
Racing will be conducted under the Cycling Australia Cyclocross Technical regulations. For this year there will be an exemption to the cyclocross bike requirements, meaning that any bike with two working brakes can be raced – cyclocross bike, road bike or mountain bike.
We’ve got some great prizes from WD-40 Bike and the NSW Riders will be eligible for Cycling NSW medals. The NSW Elite Men’s and Women’s Champion will be presented with a NSW Champion Jersey.
This is the type of event that will be talked about for years to come, this is your opportunity to be part of it. Don’t wait for next year, there is no guarantee that we will host it again.
Be part of the spectacle, be part of history and see you on the 22nd September at the Manly Bike Festival and the inaugural NSW State Cyclocross Championships.
