We leave behind the flat lands and head to the hills for Round 3 of the Battle of the Bridge on July 23. It will be a decisive round as riders aim to consolidate their clubs position and state their claim as the top dog behind MWCC. Entries are now open for the the clubs in the Battle via https://www.trybooking.com/RAWO and our open D Grade division.
Riders will race over three grades A, B and C. Fairly simply and straight forward, just like the previous round and the final round of Battle of the Bridge. No need to worry about how old you are, whether you fit into the train 5-8 hour category or the two kids and a partner waiting for me to get home division. Just A, B and C.
What this means is if you are a Northern Sydney A Grader, you typically enter B Grade. Eastern Suburbs riders are recommended to just enter, any division, just turn up and show some pride in your club because it hasn’t existed in the first two rounds.
We will be running an Open D Grade which will be a one lap race and this is open to all riders and clubs. This has been a popular Junior, Women’s and novice riders entry into racing format. Grades A-C are restricted to Battle of the Bridge Clubs.
Entries are now open via https://www.trybooking.com/RAWO
Entry is $25 and riders must have a current racing licence.
A Grade – 4 Laps 7am START
B Grade – 3 Laps 7:20am START
C Grade – 2 Laps 7:40am START
D Grade – 1 Lap 8am START
All riders will sign on at Elvina Walking Track Car Park. If you choose to drive into the Park and park on West Head Road, please note that you will be under a controlled and restricted road until the race has finished.
The race course starts at Elvina Walking Track, riders will roll out and head south back towards Akuna Bay, however rather than turn at the junction, riders will turn at the crest of the hill and then make their way out to the usual turn around point.
The entry fee is $25 for Race Licence riders.
We encourage all riders to read our article on racing safely – http://www.manlywarringahcc.org.au/article/racing-for-the-win-safely/#more-1945
Remember that you are in control of your front wheel. Keep your brain switched on and always remember that this is a club race and not the World Tour but the bragging rights are just as big.
All riders must show a current 2017 Race Licence or purchase a 3 Day Racing Licence from Cycling Australia and an approved Australian Standards Helmet at the sign on. Your race entry is on the basis that you are confirming that you have a current RACE licence and are riding with an Australian Standards approved helmet.
Our Subaru Road Race will be signing on from 6:45am for all grades at the Elvina Walking Track Carpark. If you pre enter please ensure you arrive at a minimum 10 minutes before your race start.
If you haven’t raced before but are considering it – our guide to entering may be of some assistance.http://www.manlywarringahcc.org.au/news/racing-how-to-enter-and-what-to-expect-a-beginners-guide/
The start/finish line and presentation area is located at the Elvina Walking Track Car park on West Head Road.
We would request that you do not park in the Elvina Walking Track car park – this not only assists our marshalls when they head up there to set up for the finish, but also assists with our relations with the National Parks. This also gives riders more room to hang around in post race.
