Round 2 of the Sydney Womens Race Series heads to the undulating Akuna West Head Road Racing Course. This round is being hosted by MWCC and we look forward to welcoming all riders to our course for a challenging morning of racing.

As per the first round of the womens series we will be offering two separate grades. A/B Grade will be completing two laps of our course, C/D grade will be completing one lap of our course. You do not have to have raced the first round to participate in this series.

All grades will start down at Akuna Bay Marina, C/D grade will be a neutral climb up Akuna. A/B grade our preference would be for it to start from the gun, however this will be confirmed with the series organisers.

Riders are encouraged to pre enter this round via trybooking www.trybooking.com/EQVY with entries opening 9am Sunday 6 April. Entry for all riders is $15.

To encourage participation and to give riders the opportunity to experience road racing, MWCC will be allowing those riders who do not have a racing licence to participate in this round. We will be allowing one day licences to be purchased for this round. These will be filled out on the day. For those who have never raced before the C/D grade will be an excellent welcoming into the world of racing.

For the ladies who have been competitive in D Grade in recent months and attacking the bunch we would recommend that you try the A/B grade for this round.

As usual our road race will be signing on from 7am for all grades down at the Akuna Bay Marina – pre entry is available until Friday 11 April 5pm, unless sold out prior. If you pre enter please ensure you arrive at a minimum 10 minutes before your race start. There is plenty of parking available in the car park and toilets are available.

Womens A/B Grade will be commencing at 7:50am

Womens C/D will be commencing at 8am

Please ensure that you use the toilets inside the marina complex. Behind a tree is not a toilet.

If you haven’t raced before but are considering it – our guide to entering may be of some assistance. http://www.manlywarringahcc.org.au/news/racing-how-to-enter-and-what-to-expect-a-beginners-guide/

Our race can send your heart rate rocketing from the roll out, so we do encourage riders to be warmed up and recommend that you consider parking around Terrey Hills and riding into the park, to ensure that you have had a good warm up prior to race start. Please be cautious on the descent down into the Park.

We would request that you do not park in the Elvina Walking Track car park – this not only assists our marshalls when they head up there to set up for the finish, but also assists with our relations with the National Parks. This also gives riders more room to hang around in post race.

Grades will commence racing from the Akuna Bay Marina. The finish line will be at its usual place at Elvina Walking Track Carpark, West Head.

PRE ENTRY DETAILS

Riders can pre enter the race up until Friday 11 April 5pm, unless sold out prior. After that time, riders will be required to manually sign on for any available spots on race morning. By pre registering, you are ensuring your entry and then on the day you will just turn up a minimum 10 minutes before race start, sign the sheet and grab a number. If a grade is advertised as sold out, that is exactly what it means – no spots will be available on the day.

Please note that our races are raced on open roads. This means that riders must not cross over the centre line during the race. This can lead to disqualification. Please consider your behaviour and actions when both riding to and from the race and also during the race. Your actions impact on all users of the Park and also our ability to gain approval for our races. Our officials often have to answer questions based on non club riders behaviour that occur at anytime – so lets not make ourselves a target.
