This Friday is the finale of our HART racing series. Richard Measures has run a first class series and this will be your last chance to test yourself on our car free, private course on a Friday night. Whether you are racing or are bringing the kids along for their free training make sure you psych yourself up with last weeks report. Look forward to seeing you on Friday, sign on from 6pm.

While this Friday will be the last in our Friday night series, we will be returning on Good Friday for an early morning crit on Friday 25 March. We will post up all the racing details closer to the event.

A+ Grade
A small field but some tough racing; don’t be believe that these guys were not going hard just because they were caught and passed by the grade below mid race. This is also a good example of why you should not sit on another grade, even if you are out of your own race, you just get in the way and disrupt the tactics. The laps went quick, slow, quick, slow, slow until Pete Livingstone soloed off the front dropping Dan Newman off the back before Dan hit the deck and took a lap out. Most of the bunch made it back together for the Prime lap where Tom Bolton decided he wasn’t going to make the finish so burnt all his matches to win the Prime sprint.

After the Prime Naz and Matt Dinham got a gap with Pete taking almost a lap to make his way across. Michael Potter put in a huge effort to bridge and help his team mate against the two Mobius guys but could not quite get there as Naz kept the pace high. Eventually only three were left and Naz was too strong (or just had bigger gears) down the straight to leave Matt with his umpteenth second place. As a side note here Matt took the KOM on Bobbin Head on Wednesday only to have it taken on Friday after a big lead out from the JFR bunch. This young guy has talent and will take many first places in the future. The podium also showed the importance of white socks and appropriate sock height.

A- Grade
This was nicely controlled by the Pilu boys with Simon Lempriere going off the front early with Enrico Gaoni. When it came back together Brad Hamblett counter attacked taking Shaun Falzarano with him; they overtook the A+ bunch as the elite guys played cat and mouse before Shaun dropped back and Brad continued on his own to clean up with the Prime and the win while his team mates controlled the bunch behind.

B Grade
After the big split in the bunch last week the B graders were more attentive in watching each other and closing gaps. Ben Daley tried a solo break on lap 3 but was soon reeled back in, he left enough in the tank to take the Prime but the bunch weren’t allowing any splits this time. Most of the bunch remained for finish where James Naylor was the strongest beating last week’s winner. Jack Renshaw held on for third to retain his lead in the points comp.

1st        James Naylor, NSCC
2nd        Ben Daley, SUVELO
3rd        Jack Renshaw, NSCC

B grade podium

C Grade
C grade started quietly but were woken from their slumber on the Prime lap where Matt Robinson showed that size and strength helps in a downhill sprint. From here David Lavery rode away and quickly established a big lead as the chasers gave each other a few “after you” looks. Points leaders Jeff Tam and David Hampton joined Matt in the chase and they were eventually joined by triathlete Ben Browne who pipped David on the line to deny him the outright lead in the points series. This podium decided to go the inverse of the A grade podium with their sock choice.

1st    David Lavery, MWCC
2bd    Jeff Tam, Parramatta
3rd    Matt Robinson, MWCC
4th    Robin Vandekreeke, MWCC
5th    Ben Browne, day licence
Prime    Matt Robinson, MWCC

David Hampton       22
Jeff Tam                    22

C grade podium

Thanks to Brad Ward for the winners’ Powerade and Milan Uzelac for marshalling.

There is just one more round of the points score with a maximum of 9 points available if you take the win and the Prime. If you are not there on the night you’ll need to collect your prize envelope from one of our West Head races.
