The next round of our Subaru Active MWCC Cyclocross Series has been cancelled due to circumastances outside of our control. The organisers are heartbroken that they were forced into this position. The course was designed, numbers and sponsors ready to go. Full refunds will be given. Thanks to Rob Parbery and Sean Couley and the rest of the gang for all of their work that they put in.
The Subaru Active Cyclocross Series continues to grow in stature and once again MWCC are hosting one of the National rounds. For those with a interest in history, MWCC have been hosting the NSW CX rounds since its inception. This year the second day of racing will move away from Terrey Hills and include a day of racing at Sydney Park on the 24 August.
So even with all of the elite racers coming from around the country and the globe – we currently have riders coming all the way from Japan, you too can be part of the action. We don’t forget our regular supporters of our races and these grades will also be included in the big day of racing. The timing will change as a result of having the National Series events which will run a little longer than our normal races.
If you want to enter the National Series Race – Which is our Elite race for the day, then this is done via the Cycling Australia/MTBA by going to this link. You must have a Cycling Australia Gold License or MTBA Competition License to enter these races.
YOU CAN NOT ENTER THE ELITE DIVISION ON THE DAY _ ALL ENTRIES MUST BE PRE ENTERED.
If you regularly race in our Elite section we would strongly encourage and cajole you into entering this race. While it has the prestige of our National Series, the standard at our normal races will only be a small step below this race, so you will fit right in – many of our regulars will be favourites in this race. So it is time to step up, plus you will have the benefits of a larger field, bigger atmosphere and a longer race. It is time to put your local knowledge of the venue to good use compared to those riders from Adelaide or Melbourne who won’t have the experience that you have.
I’ve not raced any of the previous rounds can I still enter the Sydney rounds? Yes. You don’t need to enter both days either race either the Saturday or Sunday.
The other divisions can be entered by going to www.cyclo-cross.com.au with $20 pre entry if you wish to enter on the day for the non elite races then you can but it will come at an additional cost of $25 on the day. The Elite Race MUST be pre entered due to it being a National Series Race.
MWCC is all about inclusion and so we have two free junior races on the day starting at 10:45am. The kids will even pin on a race number to give them the whole race experience. Racing on a modified course, that always has them in sight, we have a race for Under 7 and then a separate race for 7-12 year olds. Last month we had kids on tricycles, balance bikes, bmx bikes and mountain bikes. We don’t care about their ability or bike – we just want them out on course having fun. This opportunity is open to all children – their parents do not have to be members or racing themselves.
If you are only new to cyclo-cross or don’t have a cyclocross bike, then you can still race on the day. If you don’t have a cyclocross bike, but you do have a mountain bike, or a hybrid bike, a bmx or a uni-cycle that you want to whip around the course, then you can enter the open race that will start at 11:10am.
If you have a cyclocross bike but are only new to racing then you can race in the B Grade CX race which starts at 11:45am.
So just to be clear – kids racing – yes free to enter, all abilities accepted. Tick
Don’t have a Cyclo cross bike but want to give it a go – yes enter the open category. Tick
Have a cyclocross bike but aren’t very confident on it or am not very fast – yes enter the B Grade CX. Tick
Due to the nature of the course and the style of racing, the field spreads out very quickly, so you can just settle into your own groove and race around at your speed.
