It takes a smart racer to win at West Head, knowing when to go and went to wait. There are always plenty of riders who have the potential, but few get to take the glory and the same comes when choosing your mortgage lender. Plenty of potential and opportunity but few to suit you directly. So get your entry in for the Smartline Mortgages on October 22 and start the winning.
With the Tour of Gippsland this will remove a number of the Elite riders from the field and as such as have combined the A Grade options for this month. The Masters division has been increased to 45 years, which we think will appeal to a number of Masters riders who are looking for a strong hit out prior to Nationals in the Gold Coast.
The grades should now match most other grades across Sydney, to make it easy for riders to decide on their appropriate grade.
To accommodate the warmer weather and to encourage aggressive racing from the roll out, we have shortened the races for this month. This has also allowed us to push back the start times, to provide greater assistance for those that ride to the venue on the morning.
This month the naming sponsor is Smartline Mortgages. Lana and Greg are great sponsors of the club and they want to ensure that everyone has suitable financial help and advice to achieve their property goals. Who wouldn’t want the opportunity of living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches?
We have a multitude of available grades to ensure that we cater for your every whim:
A Grade – 3 Laps 7:30am START
A Grade Masters 45 Over – 3 Laps 7:15am START
B Grade – 2 Laps 7:35am START
C Grade – 2 Laps 7:50am START
D Grade – 1 Lap 8am START
With distances from 1 Lap for D grade up to 3 laps for A and A Masters, there is something for everyone of every standard. Female riders can enter any grade they wish, regardless of age. Masters over 45 can still race in the Elite race if they wish.
Enter online for $25 if you have a 2017 racing licence. On the day entry is $30 if space is available.
All riders will sign on at Elvina Walking Track Car Park. If you choose to drive into the Park and park on West Head Road, please note that you will be under a controlled and restricted road until the race has finished.
The race course starts at Elvina Walking Track, riders will roll out and head south back towards Akuna Bay, however rather than turn at the junction, riders will turn at the crest of the hill and then make their way out to the usual turn around point.
The entry fee is $25 for Race Licence riders. D Grade $15 entry.
We encourage all riders to read our article on racing safely – http://www.manlywarringahcc.org.au/article/racing-for-the-win-safely/#more-1945
Remember that you are in control of your front wheel. Keep your brain switched on and always remember that this is a club race and not the World Tour but the bragging rights are just as big.

By pre registering, you are ensuring your entry and then on the day you will just turn up a minimum 10 minutes before race start, sign the sheet and grab a number. If a grade is advertised as sold out, that is exactly what it means – no spots will be available on the day.
If you use gel or energy wrappers, please put your empty wrappers in your pockets and take them home with you. The National Park is not a rubbish dump.
