The summer of MWCC Cycling continues with the commencement of our Friday Night Crit Series at HART Driver Training Centre, Mona Vale Road, St Ives. The perfect way to start your weekend off with a lung buster on Friday night. We also offer free juniors coaching while the racing is on, so bring the kids!

The Friday night summer series, isn’t your standard criterium racing series. Once the Fixed Wheel Cup commences in week two of racing, the formats will vary every week. What do we mean? Well we will introduce crit races similar to those seen on the velodrome, points races on the HART course which will see numerous sprint points up for grabs on various laps will certainly test your leg strength. The mystery lap race, the riders won’t know how long the race is going to go for until they hear the bell ring on the last lap. It could make getting into that breakaway crucial. There will be other formats, you just have to turn up to find out more.
The HART course is located on Mona Vale Road, opposite the entrance to the showground. There is ample parking on site and it also has fairly safe cycling routes to the venue. The course is completely car free. Racing will commence at 6:30pm and you can sign on from 6pm. There is no pre entry, simply enter on the night for $15.
As part of our promotion of cycling on the beaches, we will also have free kids training on the night, which will be run by qualified coaches. The kids will run through a variety of skills depending on their ability. The training will occur while the racing is on, so free babysitting! The kids simply need to turn up with a bike and a helmet.
Racing on the night will be for grades A-C will all grades on the track at the same time.
Racing starts this Friday 30 October at 6:30 pm with a warm-up intro
5 week Fixed Wheel Cup series starting 6 November
Prizes each race and for series winners in each grade
A grade = 40 minutes plus 2 laps
B grade = 35 minutes plus 2 laps
C grade = 30 minutes plus 2 laps
Training / coaching for juniors during the race on the HART skid pan
$15 on the night entry. Riders will require a gold licence to race.
All clubs and riders are welcome to race.
