This course is tough and by the end of it, you will know if you are alive or not. The Cycle Spot HART Starter Crit on June 5 promises a full morning of tough racing across a variety of grades. Entries are now available online – www.trybooking.com/LIKO

The HART course looks simple enough, but with that nasty little pinch every lap, it starts to wear riders down and by the end of the race, it can define you as a rider. This morning of Cycle Spot racing promises to get your heart pumping and your legs burning.

If you are in town for the Sydney Road Championships on June 4, then you should add this to your race calendar to make it the perfect all rounded weekend. Two days of racing makes the trip all the more worthwhile. We promise that the racing will be just as tough at this event. With Cycle Spot on board we have laid down the big money and managed to book a few hours on the course to present this morning of racing.

For anyone who hasn’t ridden this course before, it is car free. It has a few testing corners and a short sharp little pinch in it. This course favours the brave and many a breakaway has been successful on this course. Spectators and those riders who have been spat out the back can take up prime viewing in the middle of the track, which allows you to view the Cycle Spot finish straight, along with the nasty little berg and the drag after it. The perfect start to your morning.

We will be providing our usual grades of C Grade, B Grade, A Club and A Elite and a Women’s Grade. Given the nature of the course we consider that it is only necessary to offer one C Grade. We will pay the top female in each grade if they choose to not race in the Women’s Grade. The C Grade will also be popular for junior riders looking for some race experience.

With only one grade on the course at a time, riders will be able to use the full course to their advantage and also groups will not have to be concerned about groups catching and passing each other.

Just like our West Head Road Race, A Elite can also add their team name to their entry. This event is part of the MWCC June Festival of Cycling which offers road, crit, TT and CX events throughout the month of June.

Each race will feature close to an hours racing in each division, this will certainly making it a war of attrition out on course and we expect to see a number of riders joining us in the spectator pits, when they pull a HART string. The racing will build up to the Elite Mens race at 10am.

With the support of Cycle Spot Mona Vale we will have plenty of prizes for each of the divisions on the day, along with on the day race mechanics, racing atmosphere and the usual MWCC race day professionalism that riders have come to expect at our events. There may even be some heckling on the microphone. With only one grade on course at a time this should make for wide open racing and any solo escapees won’t be hiding in another bunch.

The race program will be:

7 am : C Grade / Women’ s Grade
8 am : B Grade
9 am : A Club
10 am : Elite

MWCC will also be using a percentage of the race entries income to support the TAD Freedom Wheels Program. This program aims to give children with disabilities access to modified bicycles to give them the freedom and enjoyment that comes with riding a bicycle.
