With the success of the first Allpress Espresso Womens Road Ride Series, MWCC has now expanded this to include a mountain bike series for women. This is a great opportunity for women to get out on the road or dirt with other female riders in a non competitive environment. The mountain bike ride will take place 7 December and the road ride on 13 December.
MWCC hosts a lot of racing, talks a lot about racing and a lot of its members race. However it isn’t the only type of riding that our members want to do. We know that we need to grow and encourage more of our female members and non members to get out and ride their bikes and thanks to Allpress Coffee we have a great series that encourages greater participation amongst female riders.
All of the rides are led by experienced MWCC ladies who started at similar events to this. They understand the various issues and are there to help guide and also provide an encouraging atmosphere with other ladies out on the bike. This is as much about doing the kilometres as it is about socialising and getting other ladies a chance to mingle and socialise with other female riders. We hope that this creates great opportunities for all of the riders in the future.
The mountaian bike series of the Allpress Macchiato Ride Series will be a mountain bike ride on Sunday 7 December starting at 3pm. This afternoon roll out will be led by MWCC rider Lana Moy, who is an experienced and accomplished mountain bike rider who is keen to grow the roots of MWCC mountain biking.
The ride will be starting at the intersection of McCarrs Creek Road and General San Martin Drive, which is the entrance at the top of Akuna Bay. Just mill around near the top Rangers box and the riders will decide the most appropriate track to be ridden. This ride is aimed at female riders who have some mountain bike experience. You are not expected to be at a racing level, this is as much about participation, getting some tips and having a good time. At the same time this shouldn’t be your first time on a bike.
Like all rides, this will finish with free refreshments at the end.
