MWCC Time Trial with 99 Bikes

Its time to race against the clock in our first West Head Time Trial for 2021. This one is all about how fast you can go on Sunday 7th March and this one is packed with fantastic prizes. Enter now via Buncheur and entries close on Thursday 4th March at 8pm.

Thanks to our NEW event sponsor 99 Bikes who are offering up a new bike for one lucky person! Each race entry and volunteer shift you do across the five TT events this year will give you one entry into the prize draw.  But that is not all folks, more prizes in description below.

Our West Head course will host 3 distances this month: 1 lap, 2 laps and a special 3-lap option for those looking for some long-course race prep. MWCC will bring you five TT events this year on the hallowed West Head tarmac. Set a time, beat it, repeat. All riders from any club are welcome. Since you are racing the clock, all levels are suitable. Your bike choice is up to you, so roadie or TT can put you on the start line. Time to set yourself a benchmark.

The Time Trial is open to those with a Race (All Discipline) or Lifestyle Licence from AusCycling. Cycling Australia Race or Ride licences that are still valid are also accepted. Triathlon Australia licences can only be used via Warringah Tri Club entry on their website.

If you choose to race it as a team, all riders must individually enter and then, email us directly with names in your team for us to allocate you a team start.

The start/finish line and presentation area is located at the Elvina Walking Track Car park on West Head Road. Which for first timers is located about 1.5km along West Head Road on the right hand side. Please do not park in the Elvina Walking Track car park – this not only assists our marshalls when they head up there to set up for the finish, but also assists with our relations with the National Parks. This gives riders more room while waiting to start.

Essential Details:

This event will be conducted in accordance with a Covid safe plan. Competitors will be briefed prior to the event on changes to our usual event to ensure the safety of competitors and volunteers. All competitors, volunteers and spectators must sign into the Service NSW Covid Safe Check-in at the race desk, therefore please bring your mobile phone for quick and easy check-in.

AGM 2020

So we wrap up 2020 with a bunch of cancelled events and rides but did manage to hold our AGM online. Committee reports were received and it was a bumper year for the club despite the Covid interruptions. When racing came back in July, numbers were huge and we introduced our TT events on top of the road racing. Sadly no HART crits due to Covid. Finances and member numbers are looking strong and with our established sponsors to continue with us into 2021.

Key highlights included:

  • MWCC were the fastest club again at the State TTT Championships
  • Our elite pathway Team BridgeLane won the NRS teams title again
  • We had a record number of national champions
  • Club membership just over 700
  • Safely navigating the Covid landscape and keeping the riding going with TeamApp

Three Life Memberships were awarded for exemplary services to the club.
These were awarded to: Richard Saunders, Alexis Kaless and Jim Buda.

Our 2021 Club Committee was elected.
President: Mitch Dixon
Vice President: Antoni Mikac
Secretary: Pete Reynolds
Treasurer: Neil van den Bosch
General/CX: Grant Kepler
Mountain biking: Iain Collings
Ride Captain: vacant position

Thanks you to all our retiring committee members and all volunteers for 2020. We look forward to more riding, racing and roaming in 2021.
